Last day for SSM survey enrolment

Today, August 24 is the last day to update details on the Australian Electoral Commission’s (AEC) Commonwealth Electoral Roll to participate in the upcoming same sex marriage (SSM) survey.

To participate in the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) survey you must be on the electoral roll by the end of today at 11:59pm.

The ABS will be giving all Australians the opportunity to express their views on whether marriage laws should be changed to allow same sex marriage.

According to the AEC there were 811,000 missing Australian electors at the June 30 with 279,000 of them young voters aged 18-24.

A survey form will be sent by post to every eligible Australian. It will be sent to the address on the Commonwealth Electoral Roll. Forms will be mailed over a two week period commencing 12 September.

Eligible Australians who will not be at their enrolled address during the mail out period should arrange to have their mail forwarded or can contact the Australian Marriage Law Survey Information Line to arrange for a survey form to be dispatched to their nominated address.

Enrol, check or update your details at www.aec.gov.au or call 1800 572 113. The Information Line is available at Contact Us and is open 7 days a week, 8am – 8pm (local time).

The survey envelope is designated to be for the survey response only. It is not a channel for correspondence, complaints or other communications.
