DELACOMBE, VIC. — Detectives from the Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) are appealing for public assistance to identify the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision in Delacombe on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Police believe three offenders, an unknown male and two women, attended a tow yard on Elizabeth Street in Delacombe around 9.20pm where a recovered stolen Ford Ranger was being stored.
An unknown male attempted to unlock the Ford but was spooked by two staff members and the trio fled the premise empty handed.
The staff members located the women, who have since been identified, and continued to follow them onto nearby Latrobe Street.
While following the duo onto Stone Park Drive, a cream-colored Skoda bearing no registration plates, drove past and struck one of the staff members.
“Following our investigations, we’re confident the same male offender who attempted to steal the black Ford Ranger from the yard was behind the wheel of the cream Skoda,” Detective Senior Constable Steven Nicholson said.
The staff member, a 23-year-old man, was knocked to the ground but luckily escaped serious injury.
The two women got into a blue vehicle parked nearby and fled in convoy with the Skoda.
“I want to urge anyone who was driving in the Delacombe area between around 9pm and 10.30pm on April 28 to check their dashcam,” Detective Senior Constable Steven Nicholson said.
The Skoda has since been recovered in Wendouree.
