Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a structure fire at 3:22am on Barrie Road, Tullamarine after several callers to triple-0 reported a factory fire.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within seven minutes to find the structure fully involved with multiple exposures. The response was rapidly escalated to a third alarm fire.
The fire, which involved a two-storey building, was deemed under control at 5:02am. There were no occupants inside the factory at the time.
Ambulance was requested. The local gas and power company was also requested to isolate gas and electricity supply, respectively.
The Brimbank City Council was notified and a council building surveyor requested to attend today.
Once the incident was contained, significant resources dedicated to the response were released as part of a demobilisation plan.
The incident is being treated as suspicious and FRV will assist Victoria Police with their investigation.
Approximately 25 appliances and 80 firefighters attended.
