Truck advisory signs to be installed on windy road

EXCLUSIVE

VicRoads will soon install additional permanent signs on Heidelberg-Kinglake Road (C746) and surrounding roads advising truck drivers to use alternate routes.

Simon Basic, Acting Director Transport and Planning Metro North West told Kinglake Ranges News today;

“B-doubles are not permitted on Heidelberg-Kinglake Road and we have recently increased our patrols on Heidelberg-Kinglake Road to ensure truck drivers comply with these bans.

“Drivers must follow road rules and road signage and not solely rely on GPS technology which, in this instance, does not differentiate between sizes and classes of vehicles,” Basic said.

New permanent signage is expected to be installed by September this year.

Heidelberg-Kinglake Road is not a designated route for B-double trucks.

VicRoads met with Nillumbik Shire Council and Victoria Police on Heidelberg-Kinglake Road last year and just completed a review of the existing signage along the road.
