Despite the alleged pedophile and US President Donald John Trump’s ‘beef’ with Australia, McDonald’s will continue using Aussie beef both in Australia and the US.

With American beef now allowed to be imported to Australia, consumers are unlikely to see it on supermarket shelves or in US-based fast food restaurants.

McDonald’s – known colloquially as “Macca’s” in Australia – will continue using 100 per cent Australian beef.

“Australian beef is among the best in the world,” a McDonald’s Australia spokesperson told VicNews.

Whilst McDonald’s Australia will continue to use 100 per cent Australian beef, its US stores will continue to “source ingredients [including beef] from various countries.”

“The fast-food chain’s beef is obtained from a variety of farms across the globe,” a McDonald’s (US) statement reads.

McDonald’s Australia, a US franchise company, will continue to use 100 per cent Australian-sourced beef, whilst the United States – the home of McDonald’s – will continue using beef sourced from both American cattle farmers and other countries, including Australia.

Several hotels, butchers, hamburger shops, and fish and chip shops told VicNews they had no intention of serving anything other than Australian beef. “Why would I want to use inferior US beef .. it’s nowhere near as good as Aussie beef,” one Fish and Chip shop owner said.

“We’d rather support Aussie farmers. The quality is better than the US anyway,” a butcher for Gibson’s Butchers said.

The move to allow US, Canadian and Mexican beef slaughtered in the United States into Australia for the first time in 20 years was so “the Trump administration rewarded Australia the lowest of its tariff rates of 10 per cent on Australian exports to the US.”

Supermarket chains Woolworths, Coles and Aldi also “have no plans to buy American [beef].”
