AFL Outer East in turmoil as Yea unable to field teams in 2023

The AFL Outer East has been left in turmoil with Kinglake leaving to re-enter the NFNL as Yarra Glen move from Division 1 to Division 2 and Yea unable to field teams.

Yesterday, AFL Outer East announced Yea FNC will not be fielding senior men’s football teams in 2023 following pre-season discussions and Kinglake returning to the NFNL.

Yarra Glen FNC has also experienced low numbers of particpants following the September 2022 floods rendering their off-field club facilities unusable for the first half of 2023.

A request, following Yea being unable to field teams, for Yarra Glen to move from Division 1 to Division 2 has been approved by the Outer East Football & Netball Board.

Yarra Glen FNC will fill the position Yea FNC occupied in the Division 2 fixture for the 2023 season.

The transfer of Yarra Glen FNC from Division 1 to Division 2 for the 2023 season now leaves a bye in Division 1.

From a football perspective this means, Yarra Glen FNC will replace Yea FNC in the Division 2 fixture.

In Division 1, a slight fixture change will need to occur to fill the place of Yarra Glen in the football fixture.
