Russell hustles council again

Alexandra.

Purporting to represent the ‘Yea and District Progress Association’ Jack Russell asked Murrindindi Shire four questions during public participation time last Wednesday, August 23.

Russell asked two questions representing himself and two questions representing the ‘Yea and District Progress Association.’

“Did council copy that set of documents and distribute as hard copy for all Councillors and if so, on what date?” Russell said.

Shire CEO Margaret Abbey responded, “Mr Russell’s documentation was electronically distributed to all Councillors.”

Russell asked “…in respect to Council’s need to appoint a suitable CEO?

“What is the criteria for employment, when will council advertise (CEO position), what is the required date for commencement?” Russell said.

“Councillors are currently working with the appointed executive recruiting agency on the position description and selection criteria…the position will be advertised widely within the next few weeks,” Mayor Charlie Bissett said.

Russell then asked two further questions ‘purporting to represent the Yea and District Progress Association’.

“What interest, commercial or otherwise do council hold with the Yea Water Centre and Yea Saleyards.

“What is the legal status of the Yea Water Centre and Yea Saleyards?” Russell said.

Shire CEO Abbey responded, “The Y Water Centre is an incorporated body which holds a crown land licence.”

The Yea saleyards are managed by ‘(a) Section 86 Special Committee of Council’ delegated under the Local Government Act 1989.

Documents obtained by Kinglake Ranges News showed Yea and District Progress Association last reports published 1912.

Murrindindi Shire has 16 committees of management.
