Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged four people following an alleged kidnapping in the Bendigo area on Monday, June 9.

A 26-year-old man was located by a bushwalker in a critical condition along a dirt track in parkland near Comet Street just after 2.30pm.

Prosecutors will allege the victim was forced into a vehicle on Monday, June 9 and assaulted in bushland before being taken to a Kangaroo Flat address where he was further assaulted.

Following the assault, the victim was forced back into a vehicle and driven to the bush track and left there.

On Thursday, June 19, warrants were executed at multiple addresses in Kangaroo Flat, with three people arrested in a joint police response involving Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit and Central Victoria Response Unit, with the assistance of Special Operations Group and Western Region Crime Squad.

A 36-year-old woman, a 31-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, all from Kangaroo Flat, have been charged with multiple offences, including false imprisonment, recklessly causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, and intentionally causing injury.

All three have been remanded to appear in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court in September.

A 27-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested by the Special Operations Group at an address in Caroline Springs yesterday, Saturday, July 12.

He has been charged with multiple offences including kidnapping, false Imprisonment, armed robbery, and reckless causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence.

He has been remanded to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 14.
