John Telek, VK1JT, of Ainslie, ACT, continues causing harmful interference to amateur radio digital networks Australia-wide by allegedly cross-linking repeaters, despite several ongoing requests to cease and desist before later allegedly engaging in harassment when his on-air behaviour and operating practices were called into question.
Despite Telek’s online claims, VicNews has sighted evidence via AllStar – and heard on air – Telek’s ongoing illegal behaviour using his AllStar Node 66252 and other alleged means of interference.
Telek continues connecting to the VK Linked Repeater System, which is a network of several inter-linked repeaters throughout Victoria that are connected via AllStar, IRLP, Echolink and phone line connections, allowing statewide connectivity.
From Monday to Saturday, a ‘Welfare Net’ is held across the VK Linked Repeater System. Telek has, on occasions, been observed allegedly causing harmful interference. The VK Linked (Amateur Radio) System also allows for rapid, statewide communications should usual methods, such as mobile phones or radio towers, fail in a natural disaster such as a bushfire.
Telek has been told that he is not welcome on the Welfare Net but continually attempts to participate, despite being told he will be ignored and is not welcome due to his continuing and ongoing alleged breaches of rules, regulations and federal law.
Telek states in a Facebook Messenger post that he will not follow rules, regulations or the Radio Communications Act 1992 (Cwlth), stating that: “You’ve got more luck getting blood out of a stone.”

Victorian amateur radio operators have now applied for Personal Safety Intervention Orders (PSIO) against Telek.
If the PSIOs are granted and Telek continues to contact them – via any means of communications – parties who have successfully applied for intervention orders can request that Telek is charged for breaching such orders.
In Victoria, continuous and ongoing breaches of a PSIO could result in a twelve-month jail sentence.
“Telek used his own IP to probe my server before attacking it from proxies,” a Victorian (VK3) amateur radio operator told VicNews.

Telek, ‘self-diagnosed’ with several mental illnesses, it is alleged by several verified sources that Telek continues to be taking methamphetamine for his ‘self-diagnosis.’
“He [Telek] may have said other bullshit on other occasions, though, but that’s what I distinctly heard him say [what he announced to TG505] along with mentioning the quantities as ‘just a fraction of a point’,” a verified source told VicNews.
Telek’s on-air behaviour is exactly what multinational corporations who want access to amateur radio frequencies for commercial purposes are looking for to push their argument that the amateur radio service is no longer warranted.
The Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) has been contacted for comment.
The Minister for Communications & Sport, Anika Wells MP, whose portfolio is responsible for the ACMA, has been contacted for comment and asked to provide a written report about investigations into this matter.
Mr Telek did not respond to several requests for comment.
