Homicide Squad detectives today charged a 23-year-old Glenroy man with murder.

A man was found deceased at a residence in Glenroy earlier today.

Officers attended the residence on Mitchell Street around 4.40am to conduct a welfare check and located a deceased 28-year-old man.

A 23-year-old man was arrested by New South Wales Police in Albury, NSW, earlier this afternoon and charged by Victorian Homicide Squad detectives.

The alleged offender, who has been remanded in custody at the Albury watchhouse, will face the Albury Local Court in Olive Street tomorrow, when Victoria Police detectives will apply for his extradition to Victoria before the Albury (NSW) Local Court.

An investigation remains ongoing.
