Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters responded to an incident on Eames Avenue, Brooklyn at 1.33am Monday, June 23 after callers to triple-zero reported a shop fire.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes to find a 15-metre by 20-metre single-story convenience store involved in a fire. A car was also parked in front of the store.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus attacked the fire.
Properties nearby were threatened, but due to the efforts of firefighters, they were protected from damage.
The damage to the convenience store was extensive.
Residents from the adjacent apartments were evacuated at the height of the fire; however, all were able to return within an hour.
No injuries were reported, and the incident was deemed under control at 2.07am.
The fire has been deemed suspicious.
