Homicide Squad detectives are continuing to investigate after a man was located deceased in Cowes on Monday.
Police were initially called to a property at the intersection of Church Street and Justice Road about 10.20am on Monday, April 7 to conduct a welfare check.
The body of an 86-year-old Cowes man was subsequently located inside the home.
Shortly before, a 55-year-old Ventnor man was arrested at a property on Ventnor Beach Road, also following a welfare check.
He had sustained several injuries that are believed to have been self-inflicted and was taken to the hospital under police guard.
The two men are known to each other.
A post-mortem examination was conducted yesterday, and the cause of the 86-year-old man’s death remains unknown.
The 55-year-old man was released last night without charge.
The exact circumstances regarding the death are still unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
