SUNSHINE, VIC. — Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) was called to Devonshire Road, Sunshine after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a building fire at 1.22am.
Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a single-storey brick storage building fully involved in fire.
Flames were issuing through the roof, and firefighters immediately commenced an external attack on the fire, requesting additional firefighting appliances.
A Community Advice was issued advising of the fire and smoke in the area.
Sixteen FRV firefighting appliances attended, enabling the large fire to be declared ‘under control’ in about 40 minutes.
The roof however, ultimately collapsed into the building. The local council building surveyor will inspect the structure today.
FRV firefighters were successful in protecting a threatened adjoining premises from fire extension.
Fire Investigators are in attendance this morning to determine the cause of the fire.
FRV firefighters will be in attendance throughout the morning to continue fire duties, including the extinguishment of hot spots.
