ST KILDA PIER, VIC. — Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a youth following an alleged assault and robbery on St Kilda Pier last week.
The 19-year-old Deer Park man self-presented at a police station yesterday evening.
He was interviewed by detectives and charged with assault, intentionally causing injury, robbery, affray and theft.
The man was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 8, 2026.
The charges follow an alleged incident where a group of people approached a man near Pier Road about 1pm on Thursday, December 18.
The victim, a 34-year-old man on holiday from Norway, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The offenders allegedly stole his phone, which was later thrown into the water.
The group fled on foot. Police believe at least seven offenders remain outstanding.
