HOPPERS CROSSING, VIC. — A speeding P-Plater who allegedly failed to stop for police before fleeing on foot was one of 16 people arrested during a nightly operation in Wyndham last week.

A Highway Patrol unit first spotted the white BMW allegedly speeding in Hoppers Crossing just before 11pm on Wednesday, June 3.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle; however, the driver allegedly failed to stop and took off, reaching speeds of 123km/h in a 60km zone.

The Air Wing tracked the vehicle to an address in Hoppers Crossing and observed the driver allegedly get out and speak to someone before taking off on foot.

A subsequent search of the man also located a knife and cannabis allegedly in his possession.

The 21-year-old, who had his vehicle impounded, is among 16 people arrested during the two-night blitz which saw local police team up with the Air Wing and Dog Squad to target high-harm crime.

The operation also led to:

    • 371 vehicles checked;
