LATEST: Chinese website promoting wombat hunting for Chinese high-rollers disappears overnight

The Chinese (Mandarin) website that advertised wombat hunting tours on Tom Zhou’s Murrindindi property “Yujiu Villa” mysteriously disappeared overnight.

The site contained disturbing images of wombats allegedly being hunted and several images of high-powered rifles and firearms. Mr Zhou was allegedly using the property to take Chinese high-rollers visiting Crown on hunting tours.

The now-deleted site stated: “The first thing that should be felt in Australia is to be a wilderness hunter in the mountains of Australia.”

“Even if you don’t have any shooting experience, it doesn’t matter”.

“With professional guidance, you will be a great shooter!” it stated.

“Hares, foxes, wombats, wild ducks, red deer, sambars (deer) … a variety of wild animals to spend a happy holiday with you.”

“In addition to professional firearms equipment, Yujiu Villa also has the most professional hunting equipment. From single-person off-road motorcycles to three-person mountain off-road motorcycles to the Toyota King of the Battlefield, professional equipment gives you the most professional hunting experience,” the site stated.

The property is the subject of a proposed luxury resort after an earlier application was rejected.

Questions remain over why the property owners were able to run a luxury hunting lodge on the Murrindindi property.
