At 4:44 pm the Bureau Of Meteorology (BoM) re-issued a Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Winds for people in Central, East Gippsland, South West, Northern Country, North Central, North East, West and South Gippsland, Wimmera and parts of Mallee Forecast Districts.
Gusty showers and thunderstorms across Victoria.
Squally westerly winds averaging 40 to 60 km/hr with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/hr are possible for the remainder of Saturday, mainly associated with shower and thunderstorm activity.
The strongest winds will contract to the east in the evening and ease early Sunday morning.
Locations which may be affected include Horsham, Warrnambool, Bendigo, Shepparton, Seymour, Maryborough, Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Traralgon and Bairnsdale.
Strongest wind gusts recorded:
128 km/h at Wilsons Promontory
107 km/h at Mt Buller and Warracknabeal
96 km/h at Horsham
93 km/h at Gelantipy
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEST Saturday.
