New councillor elected to Whittlesea council

THOMASTOWN, VIC. — The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) on Friday, June 12,  formally declared the result of the recent by-election for the Thomastown Ward of Whittlesea City Council.

Chaman Tiwari was elected as a councillor for Thomastown Ward for the remainder of the current council term.

This by-election was held following the resignation of Nic Brooks as the Thomastown councillor in January this year.

The City of Whittlesea congratulated Ms Tiwari on her election and “looks forward to working with her in her new role.”

Ms Tiwari is currently overseas and will officially be sworn in as a Whittlesea City councillor on Friday, July 3, 2026.
