Horses teaching courses?

Kinglake Central.

Karen Ostenried on June 2 hosted an Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) session at her Kinglake Central property.

The benefits of using of horses for Riding for the Disabled are proven the benefits of EAL are not.

Karen states “Herds to horses are just like teams to people.”

“Horses require a leader that they trust and respect, just like we would love to have in the workplace.”

Equine Assisted Learning began in Canada and aims to use horses to ‘help people become leaders.’

This two hour Kinglake EAL session involved eight people divided into groups of two whilst attempting to control a horse on halter ropes around four obstacle courses.

EAL appears primarily  aimed at women wishing to empower themselves in the corporate world, though the program does attempt to be a team-building exercise with reporter Ashley Geelan working with Kinglake artist Michelle Bolmat for the days’ exercises which did prove more difficult than first thought.
