PORT MELBOURNE, VIC. — Police yesterday arrested two alleged drug traffickers over their alleged involvement in a syndicate operating across Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs.
Investigators from the Prahran Divisional Response Unit uncovered a storage unit in Port Melbourne containing commercial quantities of illicit substances and almost half a million dollars, following an attempted break-in on May 27.
Three people have been arrested in relation to alleged drug trafficking and remain before the courts.
Following further enquiries, investigators – with assistance from the Dog Squad – arrested two people in Caulfield on Thursday 11 June.
During a search of the property, police seized an imitation firearm, quantities of cocaine, methylamphetamine, 1,4-Butanediol, prescription medication, electronic devices, and cash suspected of being proceeds of crime.
A 43-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, trafficking cocaine, possessing an imitation firearm, possessing Schedule 4 Poisons, and dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
The man was also charged with contravening bail and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.
Both were remanded and appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 12, where they were further remanded to reappear on August 3.
Police are appealing for information to help identify the man and woman who were attempting to break into the storage unit.
They are perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, both aged in their 30s and wearing grey hooded jumpers with high-vis vests, masks and sunglasses.
