Detectives from Taskforce Lunar yesterday arrested a third person following several incidents, including an aggravated home invasion in Craigieburn and a burglary in Broadmeadows earlier this year.
A 33-year-old man from Glenroy was arrested at a Glenroy address and interviewed by police on Thursday, September 4.
He will be charged with two counts of aggravated home invasion with an offensive weapon, two counts of theft, burglary and using a tracking device.
It comes after police also arrested two people last week, a 32-year-old Kalkallo man and a 36-year-old Keilor Downs man, after warrants were executed at two residential addresses in Kalkallo and Keilor Downs.
The Kalkallo man was charged with aggravated home invasion, burglary, theft and possession of a drug of dependence.
The Keilor Downs man was charged with possession of a drug of dependence.
Police also seized several items from the addresses, including two vehicles, two ballistic vests, cloned number plates, over 3000 illicit vapes, a quantity of steroids and a range of allegedly stolen property.
The three arrests form part of an investigation into an organised crime syndicate involved in a range of offences, including extortion and money laundering, linked to the illicit tobacco trade.
On July 15, police seized several devices as part of this investigation and uncovered evidence of two alleged incidents on June 24, including an aggravated home invasion in Craigieburn and a burglary at a business premises in Broadmeadows.
The investigation into these incidents and the organised crime syndicate remains ongoing.
