WILLIAMSTOWN, VIC. — Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a stabbing in Williamstown earlier this year.

Police have been told a man was walking along Aitken Street when he was approached by an unknown male on a bicycle just after 7pm on June 18.

The offender struck the victim on the back of the head before producing a knife and stabbing him twice, which required surgery.

The victim, a 23-year-old Williamstown man, was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The offender fled on a light-coloured bicycle, east through a residential carpark.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants and runners.
