Whether it’s Canada’s right-wing candidate Pierre Poilievre, who lost the election and his seat, or Australia’s Peter Dutton, who also lost the election and his seat too, the world has clearly said no thank you to Trump-like candidates.

In both cases, if politicians associate with – or are even to be thought to be – anywhere near Trump and America on the political spectrum, then you can kiss the election – and your own seat, goodbye.

Australia’s Liberal Party, which headed down MAGA Lane with the full support of the Murdoch press and Sky News commentators, has suffered one of the biggest losses in Australian political history.

If yesterday’s election was an Aussie Rules footy match, the Labor Party has won with 83 goals to the coalition’s 35 goals. If it were a Test cricket match, Labor has won by two innings with three days to spare. Game over.

The friend of my enemy is my friend’s enemy’s …

Australia’s (and Canada’s) rejection of Trump-esque candidates, who both have suffered electoral wipeouts, is a very strong indication that the rest of the world has seen what is happening in the United States and said, ‘No bloody thanks.’

The Liberal Party didn’t just lose the election yesterday. They suffered an electoral wipeout whilst Albanese was returned with a large majority. Albanese is the first Prime Minister in over 20 years to be returned for a second term.

Albanese will now go into the history books as one of Labor’s most successful leaders.

Australians wouldn’t risk Dutton. His creation of an ‘efficiency department,’ and comments from Michaela Cash, answering a question on Nine’s Today show, said that “Trump was showing that he’s a man of action.”

“The American people, they expect action. And that is what they’re getting. And they’ll get the exact same attitude under a Peter Dutton government,” Cash said.

Peter Dutton, too, went down MAGA lane: “Trump is a “big thinker and a deal maker,” Dutton said.

Over on Murdoch’s Fox News (Trump’s favourite “non woke” TV network), and in today’s Sunday Herald Sun, Andrew Bolt states: “No, the voters aren’t always right. This time they were wrong.

“The reason for the loss? It was because the Liberal party “refused to fight the ‘culture wars,’” Bolt said.

Even Australia’s heavily slanted Murdoch-owned media, whose columnists were always pushing for the coalition against the ‘woke left,’ couldn’t ‘get Dutton over the line.’ They couldn’t even help him keep his own seat of Dickson.

Australia (and Canada) have shown that going anywhere near Trump, and MAGA-esque policies is electoral suicide. Go down MAGA Lane and don’t just lose the election, you’ll lose your own seat too.

Other democratic nations – thankfully for the world – have shown what happens if you want to hang out with and copy Trump.

Despite Murdoch’s and other right-wing media with their MAGA hats on, other nations can see what Trump is doing, and they’ve woken up. Yep, they’re ‘woke’ and they’ve thoroughly rejected any candidate who goes near Trump or is supported by the Murdoch media.

The democratic world, thankfully, woke up.

The democratic world is rejecting politicians who go anywhere near Trump’s America and MAGA policies. Go down Trump Lane? Then expect to suffer an electoral wipeout.

The democratic world is saying “no thanks” to any politician who heads down MAGA Lane.

The democratic world is saying “no thanks” to Murdoch’s newspaper, his Sky News (Fox in USA), and no matter how much ‘influence’ Murdoch tries to exert, it’s not working any more.

Whilst Murdoch commentators mourn the loss of their man today, despite all their effort to get Dutton over the line, the rest of the world says, ‘thankfully we avoided Trump light.’

The truth …

It’s losing, bigly. “Losing so bigly, no one loses like me.”

In Australia (and Canada) there’s only one thing people associate with Trump and politicians who embrace Trump and MAGA types, and that is losing. Bigly.

Anthony Albanese didn’t just win an election, he smashed it out of the MCG, over the stadium and onto Punt Road for six. Not out.

Canada said no thanks to MAGA types.
Australia said no thanks to MAGA types.

Elbows Up and Snags On.
