Council can do something about wombat shooting but don’t bother

Whilst Murrindindi Shire – and councillors – can not comment on a planning application before them they can still represent the community to State and Federal authorities. They appear to have chosen not to.

Yes, council – and councillors – can not comment on a planning application before them. But this does not prohibit councillors from representing the community to State and Federal Parliament and sub-ordinate authorities, such as DEWLP, the Game Management Authority, Victoria Police, Federal Police and the Premier (Dan Andrews) and Prime Minister, Scott Morrison and express their concerns on behalf of the community.

A comment by Lenore Taylor on “https://www.victoriannews.com.au//2019/08/06/council-not-responsible-for-alleged-wombat-hunts-at-murrindindi-dude-ranch/”

As Kinglake Ranges News understands, council has not done such. A well-known local source today told Kinglake Ranges News that “Councillor [redacted] is just in [it] for themselves, they don’t care about the community.”

“We can’t believe what’s happened,” the source said.

This person [local source] is a life-long Kinglake resident of several generations and a former councillor.

We do not suggest council – or councillors – have done anything wrong or been involved in any inproprietary. If anything council hasn’t done enough.

Council can not comment on an upcoming [or current] planning application. They can still represent the community and express their disgust at the alleged behaviour going on at Dude Ranch to higher authorities. By all accounts, they have not done so.

Why not?

All Murrindindi Shire councillors and CEO, Craig Lloyd, have been contacted (several times) for comment. They have not responded to requests for comment.

Comments will be published if received.
