Ambulance Victoria (AV) has welcomed 20 new Graduate Bridging Paramedics (GBPs), who will hit the road across the state next month.
AV’s GBP program is designed to allow paramedicine graduates to consolidate their theoretical knowledge and skills while initially working in the medium acuity ambulance care setting.
The 16-month program sees GBPs spend six months working and completing learning tasks under direct supervision on a Medium Acuity Transport Service (MATS) vehicle, before transitioning to work on an emergency vehicle.
The latest group of GBPs will start working in early December and will be based at branches across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The cohort was formally welcomed to AV on November 11, which Interim Chief Executive Officer Andrew Crisp said was an exciting milestone.
“Congratulations to our newest Graduate Bridging Paramedics. We wish them all the best as they embark on their career with AV,” Crisp said.
“It won’t be long before they are making a difference in communities across our state, helping to deliver Best Care to all Victorians.”
The program is underpinned by a competency and learning framework that incorporates supervised clinical practice, a progressive objective schedule of learning tasks, online learning, and study days.
