Following a suspicious death on McLeans Road, Bundoora, on Thursday, Missing Person Squad detectives today charged a 40-year-old Bundoora man with murder. 

The deceased, who is yet to be formally identified, was located buried in a backyard vegetable patch at a McLeans Road, Bundoora address about 9.45am on Thursday, May 8.

the house is frequently visited by different people and often sees late-night activity.

One local said the property sits between a kindergarten and a primary school, which they found concerning.

It appears the alleged murder occurred either there, along the Darebin Creek Trail, or nearby and the victim’s body was disposed of nearby.

Following an investigation and police interviews, the Bundoora man was charged overnight with murder.

The accused appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.

He is currently in custody. The outcome of this afternoon’s court hearing is unknown, but we understand, yet to be confirmed – the accused has been remanded in custody.

It is believed all parties were known to each other.
