Nillumbik Shire invites the community to a Flag Raising Ceremony and morning tea for Reconciliation Week next Thursday 30 May on the lawn in front of the civic offices in Greensborough at 10 am.
The event is organised by the Nillumbik Reconciliation Group in partnership with council and Eltham High School.
Mayor Karen Egan will be one of the speakers, and there will be performances by Eltham High Students followed by morning tea.
Cr Egan said the theme this year, ‘Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage’, was a call to all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements.
“We all need to look at how each and every one of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia,” Cr Egan said.

Representatives from all schools in Nillumbik are invited to attend both the ceremony and the workshop, which will explore the meaning of reconciliation for Aboriginal people.
