My paternal grandmother, Eve Judd (Edwards) spent her childhood in Alexandra and went to school in Alexandra and my paternal grandfather, Gordon Geelan, [SERVICE RECORD] a New South Welshman met Eve following his service during World War II.
Gordon and Eve married following the war and had three children, Warwick, Graeme (my father) and Rodney Geelan.
I attended Wahroonga Pre-School, on Anthony Beale’s original land in St Helena.
You’ll see Anthony’s name mentioned in many (if not most) reports provided to the Evelyn Observer and in Kinglake Ranges News ‘On This Day’ series of reports from Kinglake correspondent(s) of years’ past.
Following the death of my mother from breast cancer in 2008, my younger brother and I purchased a home in the Kinglake township area, yet again on Anthony Beale’s original land.
As I type this report … I’m still on Anthony Beale’s original land.
Over the coming months we’ll be exploring in depth all the history and connections to the Kinglake Ranges and wider district with interviews from childhood friends of the era, photographs and historical records from Geelan Media archives and family records.
